SELECTED ENTRIES TO BE DISPLAYED HERE
2020 was filled with unexpected obstacles and hardships that have forced us all to adapt to a new reality. But this year isn’t only about the dark moments — it’s about how we have overcome these challenges and what we envision for the future. This year is a testimony to our individual and collective resilience.
The Remembrance and Lockerbie Scholars program is guided by the phrase "look back, act forward.” With this in mind, we want to understand your interpretation of this phrase as we enter the new year. While we don’t know what 2021 will bring, we can choose the attitude with which we enter. In moments where words aren’t enough, art can be a vehicle for expression that elevates our understanding of how we view ourselves and the world around us.
For the first time ever, the Remembrance and Lockerbie Scholars are hosting an open call for digital poster submissions based on your interpretation of the phrase, “look back, act forward.” We invite Syracuse University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the Lockerbie and Syracuse communities to respond to our open call with a visual poster submission. You may use the guiding questions we’ve provided to help deepen your understanding of the project:
How are you thinking ahead to 2021 while reflecting on events of this year?
What have you learned this year?
What do you hope to see change within yourself next year?
What do you hope to see change in the world next year?
Where are we heading?
What have you learned about yourself?
How have you grown this year?
What will you do differently next year?
As long as your submission fits on a 8.5" x 11" (US Letter Paper) poster, it can literally be anything! Please also submit a 2-3 sentence description with your work.
You can make a:
